Well, the painting is almost finished now FINALLY! It is really looking different in the store now. I invite everyone to come by and take a look. We still have just a little painting left to do and even less wall paper to put up, then for the fun part.....hanging the pictures in places that look good and that the birds can not reach to chew on. Hmmm.......that task is harder than it sounds. We have lowered prices on most all the inventory also. We are just going crazy at the store slashing prices on birds first now most all the rest of the inventory!! You better come take advantage of it before the paint fumes wear off and we come back to our senses! Can't guarantee how long this will go on before we realize how nuts we are for doing this. Ok, we are still redecorating the shop. However we are making progress daily. It has been a little tough to paint and wall paper the store when the store is open for business, so we have been spending a lot of days there after hours trying to get it all done. We are rearranging the store to make it more inviting and comfortable for our babies as well as our customers. When you come in to see the new changes please be patient and understanding with our current mess. We are working as quickly as possible to get finished so everyone can enjoy the new atmosphere we are creating. In addition to the new redecorating, like that is not a big enough project, we also purchased a new cash register system which is requiring us to do yet another inventory and input every single item by hand, so that creates another mess all by itself for everyone to deal with. So, again please overlook the mess we are making.

Well this is my first blog since we purchased the shop at the beginning of this year and things are very busy right now. We have a lot of changes in the works. We will be adding a shopping cart to our website soon, but in the mean time check out the updates we have already made. We are also painting and redecorating the store for a nice clean face lift. We are restocking and ordering some new products to offer our customers. Our idea is a larger selection of great products. We are currently having a large bird sale right now as well, Blue and Gold Macaws and Lesser Sulfur Crested Cockatoos are up to 35% off select birds! Come by the shop and pick out the perfect addition to your family. And last but certainly not least, we are hosting a DNA and Micro Chipping Clinic at our store on March 7, 2010 at 1 pm, so if you want to know what your baby really is or if you want to make sure you never lose him or her especially during hurricane season, give us a call and make your reservation. We will need to know at least a week in advance how many of you will be attending so we make sure to have enough supplies for everyone interested. Welcome to Scott and LeeAnna Fitzgerald, the new owners of Bird House of Montague! We are so pleased that such a wonderful Christian family is taking our place in this wonderful business! They are not only the new owners of the business, they are also our neighbors, and our brothers and sisters in Christ...we also worship our Lord in the same church!!! We are still part of a huge Bird House of Montague family!!! I will hang around the shop until they "kick me out :0)!" just to consult on birds, maybe sweep up from time to time...but mostly to play with the birds and visit with customers! Our little Hawk Head Parrot was returned to us yesterday, 31 Dec 09, by the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Department detective! We were and are so very thankful and happy. He had been roughed up a little, and he was very hungry, thirsty, and had regressed back to being almost chicklike even with a little chick cry. After feeding and giving him water and lots of cuddle time for about 2 hours, he finally said "hi!" That was exactly what we were waiting on! He is so precious to us. Thanks to all who helped us look for him. The woman that stole him had a prior record and will be dealth with by authorities! We are so happy to have him back! Praise God for all good things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A woman stole this parrot from our shop 22Dec09!!! Please help us locate this birdie...lots of people are very upset about this. We have the woman on the security video walking around and sitting in the shop holding different birds...then, walking out with our Hawk Head. Officials have been notified and they have security video...it will be posted on TV as well as everywhere else we can think of. The photos will posted in all official buildings. We will post flyers in every store, vet office, pet shops and everywhere else we can think of! Please help us locate our bird if you can! And, please pray he is returned to us and pray for his safety. There will definitely be a reward!!!!!
Yes, can you believe someone would stoop so low?!? We have the woman on our security video holding him and then walking to the other side of shop with him then out the door. Sheriff Dept doing investigation and will be posting crime photo with her face, vehicle, and Hawk Head. Local TV stations will have her video and photo of Hawk Head Parrot also...everyone seems very interested thinking they will be stealing from other pet/bird shop also.
